Every year, Professor Emerita of Mathematics Emily Moore recruits students to provide free tax services to Poweshiek families on behalf of VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

Grinnell College marked a significant milestone in Renfrow Hall's construction with a Topping-Off Ceremony. Weitz, the construction company, noted this event signals the completion of the building's skeleton structure, with the elevator hoist beam serving as the focal point. Attendees shared in the unique opportunity to sign this pivotal piece before it was raised into place.

Twice a year, Grinnell College awards mini-grants to impactful programs that are making a lasting difference in the Grinnell community. This year’s fall recipients look to improve the town of Grinnell’s education, parks, and fire safety.  

Creativity, imagination, and innovation are all traits of neurodiversity. Accessible art museum programs such as the one at GCMoA which are tailored for neurodiverse individuals can open important opportunities for creative expression and make museums more inclusive.

Brian Goodell ’24 recently orchestrated a unique and heartwarming event that brought together two groups with a shared passion — running. Goodell, who volunteers at Poweshiek Animal League Shelter (PALS), combined the joy of running with the love for dogs.

The Grinnell Community Meal is the result of the newly combined Davis Community Meal and Grinnell United Methodist Church’s Blessed Community Meal — both of which operated independently before the pandemic but have now come together to meet the dual purpose of food and fellowship.

In 2023, GCMoA and DCL hosted a series of free community programs connecting the museum’s resources with a wide range of individuals, families, and community organizations, strengthening enrichment opportunities and the social fabric in Grinnell.
